ScraphEEp 2019

This year's ScraphEEp event will be taking place on the 1st February 2019! Join us for a day of electronics madness as we pit student teams against one another to complete a secret task!

After the stress of exams, we know that everyone wants a bit of fun during Reading Week. At EARS, there's no better way of having fun than playing around with scrap electronics and making something great from it!

ScraphEEp is an annual event, where we challenge you to build a robot or contraption in the space of a single day to compete with others and complete a task in the best way possible.

We only reveal the task on the day, making ScraphEEp a fun, frantic and exciting rush to build something from electronic waste and scrap materials destined for the bin.

ScraphEEp is on the 1st February, the last Friday before the start of the Second Semester, from 12pm to about 6pm. It's free to join, and there will be free food in the afternoon!

For this years challenge we'll be going back to our roots - We can't wait to see what you will build!
National Student Space Conference 2018

This year, NSSC is returning to the University of Surrey!
EARS will be hosting UKSEDS for the annual two-day National Student Space Conference, on the 3rd and 4th March 2018. Now in its 30th year, NSSC is the premier event for students interested in space, uniting them with academics and professionals from across the country to network, share knowledge, and discuss the challenges facing the sector.

It features talks by leading space science and industry figures, a careers fair, and opportunities to take part in discussions and networking events. Recent past speakers include the CEO of the UK Space Agency, ESA's Director of Human Spaceflight and Robotic Exploration, and astronauts Paolo Nespoli and Tim Peake.

For those of you who don't know, the Annual General Meeting is a yearly meeting all societies hold to review the year's activities and elect a new committee for the next academic year.

EARS's AGM location has yet to be decided. Sign up to our mailing list to make sure you know where and when!

It's really important that we get as many members as possible at our AGM, to ensure that the society can have an even better next year.
More importantly, if you want to (or think you might want to) try your hand at being a committee member and running the society, come along!

We hope to see you at our AGM! (Bring your friends - the AGM is open to all Union members and there will be biscuits...)

This year's official AGM font is Comic Sans. for the sole reason of annoying our Sysadmin, Ted.

Celebrate the end of the year with EARS!

Every year, EARS holds a Summer BBQ on behalf of the EEE Department. Usually this is by the lake, and is a relaxing afternoon on the last day of term before exams kick in.

All EARS and EEE members are welcome!

More details to come as we get closer to the end of the year.
