About us

The University of Surrey Rifle Club is a student-led club welcoming students, staff and alumni of all abilities to enjoy the sport of shooting across a variety of disciplines. We are affiliated with the Surrey Rifle Association, the National Rifle Association, the National Smallbore Rifle Association, and the British Young Shooters' Association, and a proud part of Team Surrey.

The nearby Bisley range complex provides some of the best facilities in the UK, right on our doorstep. Predominantly a smallbore club, we fire .22 bolt-action target rifles regularly at the Lord Robert's Centre, Bisley. However, we also shoot fullbore, firing 7.26 bolt-action target rifles from 300 and up to 1000 yards at Century and Stickledown ranges, also in Bisley.

As well as target rifle shooting, we aim to cater to the interests of our club members. This could involve one-off events, such as last year when we collaborated with the Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain to deliver a guest day, shooting a range of muzzle-loaded firearms and learning about their fascinating history.

We aim to compete at the very top of university sport shooting. Last year saw two club members compete in the BUCS Individual Fullbore competition (run concurrently with the Bisley Imperial Meeting), and as part of our fullbore development plan for 2019/20, our goal is to enter a full team of four at the 2020 Bisley Imperial Meeting.
